Lady G, one of the area’s most recognizable voices on the radio in the Cape Fear Region, is inviting you to a celebration. She can be heard Monday through Friday 5 a.m.. – 6a.m., and on Sunday mornings 6a.m.-Noon with her husband Minister Anthony Faison on KISS 107.7FM.
Lady G’s story is one of challenges and triumphs. In 1984, Fayetteville native Rosa "Lady Gospel" Faison, then Rosa Johnson, started her journey to become ranked among the best gospel radio announcers in the broadcasting industry. However, it wasn’t all peaches. Not able to afford housing and broadcasting school in Charlotte, she was introduced to the Raeford living in nearby Davidson. Immediately, they treated her like their family; they never charged her. The family told her…"you becoming successful and realizing your dreams will be our pay." This provided the groundwork for Lady G to complete broadcasting school. Since then, she has gone from radio stations WIDU, WFAI, WMFA (Raeford), and FOXY 99 to KISS 107.7FM.
With Lady G, a door may close, but she finds ways to knock one down and open another. She is definitely a symbol of determination and commitment. If there is a job out there, leave it for her to find. She is a picture of a role model, who relishes in the responsibility that comes with that title.
Her tenacity has earned nominations and numerous awards. In 2004, she earned the Fayetteville Community Service Award given by the Cumberland Regional Improvement Corporation—after taking in a pedestrian accident victim with no family ties and nursing him back to health, Inside Gospel’s "Best Gospel Announcer, and The NC Gospel Announcer of the Year given by the Guild of the Gospel Workshop of America.
In 2006, Lady G and her husband Minister Anthony started CenterStage with Lady G—
providing a spiritual filled night of fun and music from local and national gospel artist; it takes place every 2nd Friday of the month. Anthony is also an achiever as well. He has been nominated for a McDonalds Ambassador Employee Award; to be honest, I am not sure what all that means, but it has to be something special or Lady G wouldn’t have wanted me to mention it. So, to Anthony, "A job well done" is fitting. In fact, Lady G attributes life’s highest moments to her husband Minister Anthony. "I knew he was the missing element in my life." The couple is seen together often, and they should be.
On April 13, 2007, at the Eutaw Conference Center in Fayetteville, experience CENTERSTAGE with Lady G. She celebrates not only 23 years in gospel radio broadcasting, but also her 51st birthday. "It’s all surreal. I feel so vibrant and energized. I set goals and don’t quit until each one is realized. I invite everyone to my birthday bash and to CENTERSTAGE with Lady G." The special guest performers are Euclid Gray, who appeared in Tyler Perry’s, Meet the Browns as Rev. Henry Oliver, vocalist Lowanda "Dee" Davis, and vocalist Laketha Southern. The doors open at 6:30pm, and the program starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, and won’t be available at the door. Until March 31, group tickets are $20 for 4 tickets.
Sometimes, there’s so much life going on that most people don’t stop to enjoy their lives until after tragedy strikes, and shakes them back into reality. However, Lady G confesses that each day is like an unopened gift, and the joy is discovering what’s inside each day. She is quick to tell you how she lives like she’ll be called home tomorrow, but if that double-decker bus shows up in front of her home, Lady G would wave it on, because she still has some unfinished business!
Join Lady G Friday, April 13, CENTERSTAGE, at the Eutaw Conference Center. For tickets, please call (910) 425-8130 or 486 2082. Congratulations and Happy Birthday Rosa "Lady G" Faison.
